Greetings from the President

Greetings!

I am grateful to the members for giving me the opportunity to serve as the 52nd president of the Korean Psychological Association.

First founded as the [Joseon Psychological Association] in 1946, KPA has contributed to the development and dissemination of psychology in Korea for 78 years and has grown into one of the largest academic societies in Korea with nearly 30,000 members. This growth was possible thanks to the great efforts and contributions of all members who made KPA what it is today.

As we approach the 80th anniversary of our founding, it is time for us to move forward on a path of new challenges with pride and a heavy sense of responsibility. As we might all agree, Korean society is currently facing the difficult challenge of coping with rapid social and cultural changes that emphasize individual flourishing while promoting collective prosperity and enhancing the commonality of life.

As we navigate these challenges, it is imperative that psychology transcends its traditional focus on individual well-being and extends its reach to the mutual prosperity of individuals and communities. Recognizing this, the 52nd KPA Operational Committee has identified ‘Connecting Psychology to Community’ as a central agenda. We plan to implement academic and field linkage projects that directly address this issue.

With support from all members, KPA will faithfully fulfill its role as a forward base for the production and dissemination of psychological knowledge. KPA will also devote itself to promoting members' rights and interests, solving social problems, and maturing Korean society.

We, the KPA executives, pledge to maintain open communication with all members and the 16 divisions, fostering a culture of trust and mutual respect. We humbly request your support and active participation in this crucial phase of our institution's advancement. Your contribution is invaluable, and we look forward to working together for the betterment of KPA.
